Freedom
by joetwo
Cast away from us
Isolated by medical ministrations
Held by bandages and catheter tubing
Restrained from writing, contacting
But not from thinking
Thoughts of verse and rhyme filling a mind
Free from the constraints of the body
Free to explore the outer realms of the soul
Free to express itself in any way
Waiting, simply waiting for the moment
When the ties are cut
When freedom is tangible again
Free again to write
The word is made manifest
And the sweet freedom of the constrained
Made an electronic reality
For all others to read, to ponder
And to know
Dedicated to Tricia Bertram from here who has been very much missed but shall return to us soon.

Oh, how thoughtful, I wish Tricia well – your thoughts will make her stronger
I especially love this poem!
