From a deep mire
Bubbling pits of fetid muck
A glorious blossom grows
Interesting how we both posted – on the same day – poems about the water lilly (or lotus) even alluding to the way or medium through which the flower grows! Proves my theory again, we are all One – we are all connected. Do you know the quote from the Japanese poet Basho? “Although I may seem fickle/my heart is always faithful/as slowly through the mud/the lotus grows.” 17th century! I used that quote at the beginning of my poem; I do that when a famous quote is my inspiration. Of course, my poetry is rarely short-versed, and often goes far afield from the original topic (although hopefully, usually, the metaphorical meaning is clear enough). Anyway, happy writing my poetic friend!
I have heard of Basho but I’m not that familiar with his work. Funny ho we can be inspired at the same time.
