Muerte

by joetwo

Dead, gone, passed on
Such simple words
Yet words that hold so much import
Words of ended families
Lives stopped in their prime
Hearts left void
Hurt beyond measure

We fear it, like we fear all unknowns
We fear the pain
We fear the loss to those we leave behind
We fear what will never be
We fear what may come after
We fear nothing
Because everything is gone
Melted away to oblivion

How we long sometimes
To reach beyond those simple words
To find again those we have lost
But such a power is beyond us
Death in its verbal simplicity
Shows absolute dominion
An impenetrable barrier
One way only
